Sucuk

Sucuk, is a flavourful and savoury sausage that is a staple in Turkish, Middle Eastern, and Balkan cuisines. This sausage is made from ground meat, typically beef or a combination of beef and lamb, mixed with various spices, especially garlic, red pepper, and cumin.

The mixture is then stuffed into a casing and then cooked. Sucuk is often characterised by its deep red colour, a result of the addition of red pepper, and it has a distinct aroma due to the garlic and spices.

Sucuk can be consumed in various ways, depending on regional preferences. Commonly, sucuk is sliced thinly and pan-fried, grilled, or cooked on a barbecue until it becomes crispy on the outside while retaining a juicy interior. It is often enjoyed as a standalone dish or incorporated into various recipes, such as sandwiches, omelets, stews or even used as a pizza topping.

This sausage is renowned for its bold and robust flavour profile, combining the richness of the meat with the spiciness of red pepper and the aromatic notes of garlic and cumin. Sucuk has gained popularity internationally, and its versatility makes it a beloved ingredient in both traditional and modern culinary creations.
